“Hello, ladies.” He was right next to them, eyes glowing a light shade of green, “You know, in America they had this guy named Nathaniel who follows me. I gotta’ say, you two don’t look half as threatening.”

L’apparenza inganna.” Samantha scowled as she spoke the words, and in less than a moment, the tip of her heel was connecting with Demetrius’ chin. His head snapped back and he stumbled. Samantha found her footing more quickly than Demetrius’ ability to comprehend what was occurring. With the ball of her fist, she put all her force into Demetrius’ chest, tossing him to the ground.

Samantha unsheathed her bokken. The sword was originally designed for practice, but with a bit of sharpening, it became quite an efficient weapon against demonically bound creatures. Her movements were at nearly invisible speeds as she brought the tip of the sword down toward Demetrius’ chest. Unfortunately, Demetrius made movements that were unseen to even her trained eye, rolling out of the sword’s way and standing to face her.

Fangs bared and fingers sharpened, Demetrius now had the edge. The force of Samantha’s blow splintered the wooden katana as it struck. Suddenly, his claw grasped down on her throat, drawing blood where the tips of his fingers broke through the skin.
